Dear Ones,
In the midst of Autunm with the golden wind moving through and signaling change in the air, I find I am in a hurry to share some new and vibrant offerings with you before the dark months take hold. Reiki is a healing therapy that promotes vitality and harmony by gently encouraging the body’s own innate capacity to release tension, relax, and find natural alignment. Non-invasive and suitable for everyone, Reiki can reduce pain, anxiety, and depression, aid sleep, improve digestion, respiration and circulation, alleviate symptoms of acute and chronic conditions, help with addictions, and enhance self-awareness. Reiki is simple to learn and can be used in conjunction with other modalities such as restorative yoga and aromatherapy.
First Degree Reiki is for those who wish to learn how to practice Reiki for themselves and others. Training includes Reiki attunement, contemplative and hands-on Reiki practice, and guidance on how to work with this subtle and profound Universal Life Force healing energy.
Trauma-Informed Yoga Basics
with Keely Rakushin Garfield - MA, E-RYT, UZIT, Reiki Master, Interfaith Chaplain
Saturday November 16th - 1pm to 5pm - Brooklyn, NY - Cost: $180. Space is Limited.
Embracing an integrative approach to understanding the effects of trauma and chronic stress on the body and mind, this intimate workshop provides an accessible introduction to practicing and teaching trauma-informed yoga. We have all known some sort of trauma in our lives, big or small. Together, we will agree to let this awareness inform and collectively guide us on the path toward embodied self-regulation and compassionate concern. Harnessing the wisdom of yoga and somatic therapies, contemplative practice, and creative praxis, we will cultivate a resilient, resourceful and radiant experience of wellbeing. Learn how to offer yoga for yourself and others, in a way that invites everyone to treasure their bodies, feel safe, empowered, and cared for. Consideration of trauma in relation to privilege, social justice, and inclusivity will help us to apply trauma-informed principles in a broader context.
Participants will reflect on:
Autonomic nervous system, stress response, and Polyvagal Theory as a framework for understanding trauma
Somatic and integrative yoga therapeutics addressing traumatic and stress-related symptoms
ZENtervensions™ for self-regulation and responding to crisis
Trauma-informed language and cueing
Creating healing spaces that are thoughtful and inclusive
Establishing constructive boundaries to safeguard peace
Empowerment through contemplation, meditation, and prayer
